Expertise is in statistics and research design comes with a distinct advantage: Researchers, and research teams, want and need the skills you have. I have been fortunate to have had many opportunities to work and publish with teams in a variety of disciplines, including nursing, public health, psychology, and higher education research and policy. I also make it a priority to publish and present with my students, many of whom have gone on to careers in education and research after graduation. I strongly believe that writing and presenting at conferences are two important ways to share what we have learned with the academic and non-academic communities. The work we do, and what we can share with others, helps assure a strong future for the next generations of undergraduate and graduate students who aspire to be researchers, practitioners, or a combination of both. And more than ever, we have a responsibility to instill in all of our students the value of using evidence to make decisions.
